Linda Zollinger is the founder and organizer of FRITZ86 - art space, Zollikerstrasse 251 in Zurich. She got the idea to create as a compliment to her business Fritz86, with the support of my company, Helena Lundin Art, and the artist/gallerist Tom Fly.

Juan shared some words about his interesting work with us.

,,From series 14,24”

The territory along the Mediterranean Sea has always been associated to the idea of origin of culture, trade, movement and leisure. As a key location in the human development due to the privileged scenarios, this mild area emerged as one of the most crowded places on earth in terms of population density. These series are inspired by the idea of time-lapse origin, destination and the notion of journey.

The photographs of this project show different night scenes of beaches along this sea. These are specific locations where migrants coming from Africa entry the so-called “promised land”.

On one hand these beaches are open spaces where the sense of stillness blocks out other latent meanings among the elements. On the other hand, these are also “arrival” places for some people coming from places drowned by economical and social problems, who crave for a new opportunity. Place, transformed into space and once more into place again.

Through the images I try to face the same scenario to different interpretations. The capacity of photography as a document able to bring new contexts and spatial readings, where meanings interweave and offer new conceptions about the known, is my main interest. With this approach I give expression to the oneiric desire of search, risk and metamorphosis that any journey has implicit in itself.

Each one of the images needed a very long exposure time, generally more than an hour, and they behave as a parallel dialogue to the physical trip carried out by the migrants coming from Africa. To me, the experience of this time lapse while the image of a specific beach is being captured, adds another dimension to the reading of every photograph and essentially, emphasizes the relativity of time.

The work's main goal is to create a visual tracking of the images in order to tear them apart afterwards, transforming them into something alien and unexpected.

14,24 is the distance measured in kilometers that separates Africa from Europe.

Presented a hint of his Golden times

The artist Thomas Sarbach focuses on the primal power of gold. Not one stroke of the brush is too much or too little. Gold is a clashing point and a mirror of his and yoursoul.ThomasSarbach makes his appearance authentically. Relentlessly. Everything he is, thinks, feels and experiences, is mirrored anddistilled in his essence and works – his art is permeated with multiple dimensions, there is no contact for observers with surfacesdiffidently sketched.
